On July 5, CIM held a partnership seminar with the Sisters of the Franciscan Missionary of Mary (FMM) to help strengthen their financial knowledge. The theme of the seminar, βIncome Tax and Other Statutory Compliance like GST, TDS & FCRA,β highlighted the importance of staying informed about financial regulations. Approximately 40 sisters, primarily serving as bursars from various states across India, attended the seminar, reflecting a strong commitment to professional development and organisational management.

The seminar featured two facilitators who brought valuable insights to the participants. CA John Ravindran conducted an in-depth session on income tax regulations and statutory compliance, providing the sisters with an understanding of the financial framework within which they operate. Meanwhile, CA Sabu John led the session on Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), offering practical examples.
The sessions emphasised real-world applications, enabling the participants to see the relevance of these regulations in their daily responsibilities.

One of the standout aspects of the seminar was the dedicated Q&A segment, allowing the sisters to pose specific questions about their experiences and challenges. This interactive component was highly appreciated, as it provided tailored guidance built on real scenarios faced by the participants. The engagement fostered meaningful discussions, allowing the sisters to learn not only from the experts but also from each otherβs experiences.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. The Coordinator for the event mentioned, βTo face todayβs world in a dynamic environment without sound financial upgradation, it becomes increasingly difficult, particularly given the implications of the Income Tax Act. The various information in the present scenario, which you shared with us, was very helpful for the smooth running of our organisation.β This highlights the need for continuous education in empowering individuals and organisations to thrive in a complex regulatory environment.
Investment in knowledge pays the best interest, says Benjamin Franklin. True to this statement, the sisters attending the partnership seminar made a profitable investment of their time.
