Mission Strategy Plan for a 125-year-old Organisation

CIM facilitated a yearlong Mission Strategy development process for the Core Leadership

team who are assigned as a Goal Owners. On 28th and 29th of November 2024 a two-day

workshop was conducted for the Goal owners to implement the Mission Strategy Plan. This

Mission Strategic Planning involved consultations, workshops and various engaging activities

in specific teams to ensure the effective management in implementing the Strategic Plan and

move towards the 3 important Strategic Priorities for the vision fulfilment.

On day one, Mr Valentine Davidar, a resource person of CIM began the orientation with his session, “Strategic Change Management” based on the biblical principles. His opening keynote address has set the context for the 2 days Goal Owners orientation.

He enabled the Goal Owners to reflect on the Vision and Mission which helped and paved them a way to intensively work on the 3 Strategic Directives on a priority basis namely 1. Exponential New Field Expansion 2. Impact Next-Generation through Networking and Partnership 3. Employ Segmented Approach in Children, Family and Bible Ministries.

In the post-lunch session, Mr A. Sam Blesson, Director of OD Department - CIM, continued

with a recap of the Mission Plan and the Strategy Dashboard. This session helped the Goal

Owners to reflect and ponder on the importance of implementing the strategies designed

and the grey areas of why it is not adequately implemented.

On day two, the CIM facilitation team began with the action plans to implement the

Strategic Priorities, Processes, Resources and People. The Goal Owners in their respective

teams worked intensively on the Action Plans.

The final note address by Mr. Raja Christopher, Director of Training, CIM on “Capacity

Building and Organisational Restructuring” helped the Goal Owners to know and understand

the different metrics used in the Organisational structure. Prior to the 2 days Goal Owners

Orientation a survey was conducted by the CIM OD department in which more than 90

percent of the key leaders have responded that the current Organisational structure is the

bottle neck or blockade in implementing the new Strategic Priorities.

Mr Christopher on his final note said “Our Socio – Political environment is drastically

changing, what is here today is not there tomorrow! What we are doing has to be doubled

up or tripled up as it is the need of an hour. “Good is the greatest enemy of Greatness” We

are good but that is not enough, the days ahead are more challenging and complex.” He also

added that the children of this generation are far more informed and exposed and hence it

is the greatest need that we have to equip ourselves and move from Good to Great.

One of the Goal Owners, mentioned, “It was a good time to sit and think about the history of

the Mission, evaluate us, and look forward to the God given Vision. We as a team and

leaders assures that whatever has been instilled in us in the last 2 days, we will implement it

and move forward.”

The National Director of the Mission while felicitating the CIM team said, “It’s a great joy

today that CIM is one among us and no difference. They are the part of our family. I want to

thank God and praise Him for this wonderful productive time He has given to us. Personally, I

want to thank Mr Christopher, Mr Sam Blesson and Mr Allwin.” Finally, he said, “We have

changed (and) we have started working.”

Another staff member mentioned that the 2-day intensive session brought closer

communion among themselves. She mentioned that CIM is always a friend and trusted

partner. She also added that they there were times when they had difficulty in

comprehending the process and when faced with other difficulties, CIM’s response to it with

patience motivated and encouraged them.

One of the Senior staff, on urging the team to move forward, he said, “Think beyond your

region as it is a PAN India initiative, and everybody is a steward and accountable to each

other.”

Mr. Raja Christopher on his final thank you note on behalf of CIM appreciated the Mission

Organisation for their work and co-operation all these years. He also added “We started

with Child Protection Policy development and orientation of CPP at various levels at one of

the Crucial hours of the Organisation which was followed with developing the DNA

statements of the organisation and presently with the Mission Strategy Planning. He also

exclaimed by saying “The work you're doing cannot be duplicated.”
